"Battle has chizzled. Y'all KNOW dat shit, muthafucka! It aint nuthin but no longer bout nations, ideologies or ethnicity. It aint nuthin but a endless seriez of proxy battles, fought by mercenaries n' machines. War, n' its consumption of game, has become a well-oiled machine. Battle has chizzled. Y'all KNOW dat shit, muthafucka! ID tagged soldiers carry ID tagged weapons, use ID tagged gear. Shiiit, dis aint no joke. Nanomachines inside they bodies enhizzle n' regulate they abilities. Put ya muthafuckin choppers up if ya feel dis! Genetic control yo. Hype control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everythang is monitored, n' kept under control. Battle has chizzled. Y'all KNOW dat shit, muthafucka! Da age of deterrence has become tha age of control fo' realz. All up in tha name of avertin catastrophe from weaponz of mass destruction. I aint talkin' bout chicken n' gravy biatch fo' realz. And da thug whoz ass controls tha battlefield, controls history. Battle has chizzled. Y'all KNOW dat shit, muthafucka! When tha battlefield is under total control, war... becomes routine."

Arcade quest is still being worked on. Finishing up animation work and hopefully next week/ month we can get some nice shit going on. was a pretty lonely month.

RIGHT NOW IM DOING SHIT LIKE :

-HITBOXES
-FRAME DATA
-FINISHING UP THE LAST CHARACTER
- DESPERATELY TRYING TO MAKE UI

I think now is the perfect time to explain about stuff you can do in arcade quest.

- you can switch between characters on the fly (to add, this bit plays like a fighting game in arcade mode, story missions pop up for you to play)
- the games story missions play out like beat em ups
- there's like 7 character specific side missions

- hopefully i can try getting in a co-op or something. I'd love to have a online versus mode or a online co-op. Peer to peer tho.

yep

6 OUT OF 7 DONE

3 TO GO

so school's been kinda meh man i dont know. I switched my lunch to like 8th period so i can leave earlier and see my friends at that time. everythings been really strange lately, i feel as if they made this schedule to mentally break me, but so far its just been awkward pauses and awkward interactions.

Ive been reading this article about how to have stories like the games Nier and drakengard. I'm familiar with Nier for its storytelling and how they literally made it integrate with the game and everything(game messes with your save file and stuff) and I was thinking if this is how every story for every game should go. the characters emotions and journeys arent just conveyed through attitude and environments but they also appear in games systems and controls. The article brought up a interesting point of flow and freedom in a game world. It's a interesting read if you want to make stories for video games and stuff. This also sorta reminded me that video games now a days have very weak endings. video games keep going for endings where the main character is screwed over and stuff. some recently new games I've played (splinter cell and saints row) has endings that REALLY pay off. I hope we dont have to see this fad next gen, people wanna be rewarded when they beat the game, not sad.

oh and in regards to the title of this blog post, im done animating 4 out of 7 characters in Arcade Quest. feel free to ask me about those four.

Alright nig's so Arcade Quest is going pretty well. Pretty much animations for the main characters are almost done, might be done this month. So next month is probably when voice recording and tweaking stuff starts and extra animations and shit. November would be cutscenes and shit. That's the plan and schedule, and if we go by that pretty well then this game might hit in like, christmas or the new year.

I think now's a good time to explain why this game is taking me so long. Arcade Quest first started off as a submission for a stencyl jam game, held here at newgrounds. The first version started off as a beat em up/ and the version after that tried to expand upon that with characters to take side quests with.. The game was very ambitious but ran into way many problems, and i did not like the simplistic combat it had. The game's transition to flash started in like, februrary. after trying to replace the 8 bit graphics with hand drawn artwork and the failure of its look. in February I was drawing some stuff and animated a hype as fuck game intro that i did out of fun. At that point i really wanted to bring the game to flash. I could've made a Street Fighter 2 like game with as2 and just call it a day, but I really wanted to make something cool. I have fears that fighting game players (ESPECIALLY the ones who play marvel) wont like this game, since its sorta like marvel 1. But i added some things that i think are really fun mechanics.

This game's development seems pretty open right now so pretty much im just gonna talk about mechanics from this point on and leave story details out.

Yeah I just really dont. I dunno why but it feels like I've lost my place here. I feel like the only way I can get attention for a opinion is say something really stupid or be obnoxious. The BBS and Chat rooms feel so foreign to me now. This isnt a newspost about me leaving NG, I'll never leave this site or ditch it. But I'll probably be in the backgrounds now, just lurking or working on a project. Just felt like I had to get that off my chest.

its progressing
shit is getting done

I'm thinking on cutting down on some features, and the game might be just a fighter now (might still have that beat em up spirit though) Also, whaddya guys think of an online mode? I'm having ideas and shit but it's gonna be a thing in which just you and your friend fight each other, no rankings, no battle points none of that stuff. I think the game might hit at the end of this year, or maybe on January, that's how things are looking right now.

update on that game im working on

Have a great clock day everybody, I did nothing this year but im glad that everyone is supporting the holiday in creative fashions.

I guess now's a good time to say im gonna focus all my time on Arcade Quest now. no side projects, no collabs, just me and the game.

now, that I have your attention, lets talk.

I just wanna talk, lets sit down and talk.

So some of you guys know I've been working on this fighting game for a pretty long time, and you may be wondering why is it taking forever?

from my perspective, its a problem of communication. pretty much we all barely keep each other updated on what we did and stuff. Im not blaming the people I work with, since I've pretty much done this too, but I'm just frustrated that the game hasn't made it past the conceptual stage. I'm working on adding deeper mechanics and a gimmick that just adds to the crazy fun. I hope that at the end of this month, I can get a alpha out for people to test on, and some work can begin. Then again, we just REALLY started some work this month. I guess it's just another problem of me being impatient. I gotta realize that this is a big game here, and it isn't just merely a flash game and put both views into one.

Im gonna stop whining and bitching and crying here and just talk.

I've been drawing the animations a lot, and I realized that I really start to favorite on who I like to draw. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY don't like drawing the main character (which is a self insert). Every other character has a awfully cool move set. Then again, then main character's move set was pretty much built to be super offensive but at the same time he's using willpower instead of fire power and weaponry. Think of a little kid going against a bully. It's all brain power.

I just really felt like sharing what was bothering me today. oh and I'd like to state newgrounds doesn't suck(although it DOES have it's problems)

EDIT: OH crap I forgot to ask, since my game has the idea of a assist feature, what famous Newgrounds character would you like to see? I've added a few of my own original characters but I thought guest characters would be fun too.
