desiging combo systems

So i've been busy with school n shit. this newspost is just to talk about Arcade Quest combos n shit, cuz i wanna take a break from A.I and shit.


Alright so combos in this game(Arcade Quest) work like Marvel Vs Capcom's "MAGIC SERIES", which is a combo system that can be preformed in a pattern to set a combo off. It'll kinda work similar, BUT:

-with the game being much more simpler then other fighters, these patternlike combos wont be like normals into specials. Grabs and specials are introoduced to be normally used.

example, majormel's would possibly be "slide into light attack into heavy into duststomp"(note that duststomp is a air launcher and on the last frame, you have to jump to do air attacks)

things to note:

  • doing the moves in the order shown just has moves come out quickly instead of linking to another move on recovery frames
  • there's a mechanic called psyche cancels, in which if you press all three buttons(lights,heavies,assist) at the cost of meter. you can instantly do any move you want from cancelling the previous moves animation.

it was a idea I was thinking about this week. Characters will obviously have a different pattern.
