shit happened.
Arcade Quest is going on pretty well. It's slow, but it is progress. Ive been fooling around with the gameplay and some crazy shit happens like:
- Doing any attack in the air has them stop in the air until the attack animation is done/ you stop hitting the buttons.
This is kinda interesting. The con of it is that if you get someone in the air at the right time then you can just infinite them with your normals (ESPECIALLY MAJORMEL). Theoretically, you can probably break out of the infinte with an assist. The Pro's for this is that if someone tries to do a jump in attack and hit it early, you can probably counter attack that. I'm kinda fine with this happening.
In the beginning of working on this game, I really wanted the game to play like Marvel 1. HOWEVER, I was very new to seriously playing fighting games at the time. I learned that Marvel 1 is a pretty broken game and that at high level play there will always be :
- Infinites
- death by chip damage (probably from blocking the infinites)
- throws
I'm not sure whether or not I want that in this game. New players really hate infinites and im pretty sure everyone doesnt like to be on the recieving end of one. I was thinking of adding something like "bursts" from most Arc sys. works titles (P4A, GG, i think blazblue might have them). I think broken games are fun, but not EVERYONE does.
but so far the only way to probably(theoretically) stop infinites is probably the use of assist characters.
I think this game could be really good though. i'll just have to wait and see.
